Breaking News: Major Relief in Electricity Bills – NEPRA Announce Big Refund Soon!
In a massive relief for electricity consumers across Pakistan, the Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA) has filed a request with the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) for a refund of PKR 0.57 per unit! This refund comes after fuel adjustment charges were found to be overcharged in the electricity bills for August 2024.
The CPPA’s report reveals that electricity companies charged PKR 9.38 per unit, while the actual charge should have been PKR 8.81 per unit. As a result, the agency is pushing for this refund to be returned to millions of consumers.
Relief in Electricity Bills to K-Electric Users
However, this much-anticipated relief will not apply to households using up to 300 units per month, as they are already benefiting from government subsidies. But for many others, this could mean a significant reduction in their upcoming bills.
NEPRA has confirmed that they will hold a crucial hearing on September 26, 2024 to make a final decision on this refund. Unfortunately, the outcome will not affect K-Electric users, as their fuel adjustment charges are managed separately.
Stay tuned for more updates as this decision could bring much-needed financial relief to consumers battling rising costs! However if You are GEPCO user check your GEPCO Online Bill.
